Classroom observation
A BCBA observes the student in the setting where the behavior actually occurs, across the parts of the day that matter — not in a pull-out room that tells you little about the classroom.
Data collection & analysis
Setting up data systems your staff can realistically maintain, then reading what the data says. Most campuses are already collecting something; the gap is usually turning it into a decision.
Planning & meetings
Behavior intervention plans
Writing BIPs that a teacher with twenty other students can actually implement, and revising them when the data shows they are not working.
IEP consultation
Support for the team in developing and reviewing goals and behavioral supports, and in translating them into what happens day to day in the room.
ARD meeting participation
A BCBA attends the ARD committee meeting, contributes the behavioral picture, and helps the team reach decisions that hold up in practice.
